A great resume is just another document if it’s not accompanied by a well-crafted cover letter. It’s basically the first shot at making an impression—and as the saying goes, you only get one.
Your cover letter shouldn’t just re-hash the details of your resume! Think of it as a multi-purpose document that immediately reveals your personality, your fit for the role and/or company, your communication/organizational skills, your attention to detail—and even the level of interest in the position, you’re applying for.
It seems like a lot—and it is! A good, hard-working cover letter can take quite a bit of time to create, which is why so many people dread doing them (or worse, just create a generic one and use it for every job they apply for. No bueno!)
Instead of fumbling with your words, let me help position you to stand out and get the job you want. I can either update your current cover letter (good) or create a new one from scratch (better! best!)—the choice is yours.
Here’s how it works:
Interview: We’ll have a one-on-one consultation where I ask you questions to flesh out the details of the job(s) you’re applying for. I’ll connect your personal qualifications to the employer’s specs, and illustrate your fit with the role through concrete examples (anecdotally, or through examples on your resume). At this time, I’ll also answer any questions you might have.
Review: Within 2-3 days, you’ll receive your first draft via email. You’ll have 7 days after receipt to request additional modifications. This is the time for you to let me know about any other changes or info you might have left out during the one-on-one consultation.
Final: Once I’ve received and incorporated all of your changes, you’ll receive a concise final draft that nicely summarizes your experience and sells your achievements and suitability for the role.
